The 2027 Nissan Murano is on sale now, and Nissan is giving its two-row midsize crossover a darker personality without turning the lineup into a maze of trims. Pricing starts at $43,990 before a $1,545 destination and handling charge.

The headline addition is a new Dark Armor grade, positioned between the SL and Platinum. It brings gloss-black exterior details, 21-inch wheels and a more aggressive visual treatment to a Murano that was already designed to lean toward comfort and style rather than rugged-SUV theater.

That positioning matters because the Dark Armor isn’t the cheapest Murano and it isn’t the most luxurious. At $46,990, it costs $3,000 more than the SL and $2,800 less than the Platinum. For buyers, the question is whether that visual middle ground feels worth the premium.

2027 Nissan Murano Pricing Gets Simpler

Nissan has reduced the 2027 Murano range to three all-wheel-drive grades. The SL starts at $43,990, Dark Armor at $46,990 and Platinum at $49,790. Those prices exclude the $1,545 destination charge, along with taxes, title, license and options.

That three-grade structure makes the buying decision unusually easy to understand. The SL is the value entry, Platinum remains the top trim, and Dark Armor sits in the middle for shoppers who care more about a distinctive appearance than simply climbing to the highest badge.

There’s also a useful psychological line here: every Murano stays below $50,000 before destination and options. The Platinum just barely makes it, but the range remains tightly grouped compared with vehicles that spread buyers across a long ladder of packages and sub-trims.

Dark Armor Gives the Murano a Sharper Look

The Dark Armor treatment is primarily visual, and Nissan isn’t pretending otherwise. It adds gloss-black 21-inch wheels, sportier bumpers and lower side molding, black Nissan badges and Dark Armor badges on the front door panels.

Inside, Dark Armor is offered only with Graphite upholstery. Buyers can choose from six exterior finishes: Gun Metallic, Super Black, Scarlet Ember, Everest White, Boulder Gray with a Super Black roof, or Everest White with a Super Black roof.

The two-tone choices are probably the most interesting because they let the black trim look intentional rather than simply disappearing into the body color. Still, this is an appearance-focused grade, not a performance version. Nissan’s release identifies no Dark Armor-specific power or chassis changes.

Technology Remains a Major Murano Selling Point

The Murano’s more meaningful upgrades remain inside the cabin. Available technology includes ProPILOT Assist 2.1, which can allow attentive drivers to take their hands off the wheel on compatible freeways while remaining ready to take control.

Google built-in places Google Maps, the Google Play Store and Google Assistant into the Murano’s 12.3-inch infotainment display. Available massaging front seats add a more premium touch, while the available 3D Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor can provide full 3D rotation along with Front Wide View and Invisible Hood View.

None of those features changes the basic mission of the Murano. This is still a five-passenger crossover aimed at buyers who want an upscale-feeling cabin, useful technology and everyday comfort without moving into a traditional luxury badge.

Safety and Tennessee Assembly Add Substance

Nissan assembles the Murano at its Smyrna, Tennessee, facility using U.S. and imported parts. The crossover also enters 2027 with some meaningful third-party recognition behind it.

The 2026 Murano was named Best Midsize 2-Row SUV for the Money in the U.S. News & World Report Best Cars for the Money awards. It also earned a 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation, the institute’s highest award level.

Those credentials matter more than black wheels. The Dark Armor grade gives Nissan a fresh reason to put the Murano back in front of shoppers, but the stronger argument remains the vehicle underneath: a straightforward three-trim lineup, available hands-off highway assistance, a technology-rich cabin and a recent top-tier safety award.

The 2027 Murano doesn’t need Dark Armor to reinvent itself. It simply gives buyers who already like the Murano’s comfort-first formula a little more attitude without asking them to jump all the way to Platinum.
