Aston Martin Valhalla Breitling Watch: A Bespoke Luxury

The Aston Martin Valhalla Breitling watch program lets owners personalize two Super Chronomat models to reflect their exclusive hybrid supercar.

There is something wonderfully excessive about a supercar capable of 217 mph needing a matching watch. The car can cross a considerable distance before you’ve finished checking the time, yet Aston Martin believes its Valhalla customers deserve something rather more personal than another branded accessory.

Its new collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Breitling allows Valhalla owners to commission their own Super Chronomat, selecting colors and finishing details inspired by the specification of their individual car.

For Aston Martin, this is an interesting development. The company is taking the personalization normally reserved for an expensive automobile and extending it into something its customer might wear every day.

Why the Aston Martin Valhalla Breitling Watch Matters

The Valhalla is no ordinary Aston Martin. It is the company’s first series-production mid-engine plug-in hybrid supercar, with just 999 examples planned worldwide.

Underneath its sculpted bodywork sits a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 supported by three electric motors. Total output is 1,079 metric horsepower, approximately 1,064 horsepower by American measurement.

Aston Martin claims the car accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds and reaches 217 mph. Those are manufacturer performance figures, rather than results independently measured by Test Miles.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain is particularly interesting because electrification here supports extreme performance as well as providing an alternative source of propulsion.

As the EPA explains, plug-in hybrids combine gasoline and electric propulsion. In the Valhalla, Aston Martin has developed that combination around the demands of a mid-engine supercar.

That engineering ambition matters to the watch collaboration. Breitling isn’t trying to recreate the entire car on somebody’s wrist. It’s borrowing selected materials, colors and design characteristics.

The $64,000 Question: How Much Does the Watch Cost?

Before examining the movements, there is a rather important detail missing from the announcement: the price.

Breitling and Aston Martin have not provided retail pricing for either customized model. They have also not confirmed whether an additional commissioning fee applies or how long owners should expect to wait for delivery.

And no, the collaboration announcement does not say a watch comes free with the Valhalla.

For customers shopping in this rarefied corner of the market, the absence of a published price may not immediately end the conversation. Nevertheless, a bespoke commission deserves transparent terms.

Prospective buyers should ask whether the completed specification is documented, whether personalization affects future servicing, and how ownership or provenance will be recorded. Those are sensible questions, not confirmed features of the program.

The Super Chronomat B19 Is the Engineering Showcase

Of the two watches, the Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph makes the strongest mechanical statement.

Its 44-millimeter titanium case houses an automatic perpetual calendar chronograph. It also features a carbon-fiber dial, Breitling’s Rouleaux bracelet and a transparent caseback displaying an 18-karat red-gold rotor.

That perpetual calendar deserves attention. Ordinary calendars require correction when months have different numbers of days. A correctly maintained perpetual calendar recognizes those variations and accounts for leap years.

Breitling says its mechanism needs no manual calendar adjustment until 2100. That date matters because the Gregorian calendar rules make 2100 an exception to the usual four-year leap-year cycle.

The B19 also offers a 96-hour power reserve. In practical terms, the owner can leave the watch unworn for approximately four days before its stored mechanical energy is exhausted.

The distinction between mechanical watchmaking and electronic timekeeping is worth understanding. The National Institute of Standards and Technology explains how modern atomic clocks define precise time measurements. A traditional mechanical watch instead relies on a regulated movement and stored mechanical energy.

Owners can customize the rehaut, the inner ring surrounding the dial, along with hand colors and rotor engraving.

The Smaller Breitling Takes a Different Approach

The Super Chronomat Automatic 38 provides a more compact interpretation.

Its stainless-steel case measures 38 millimeters and includes a carbon-fiber dial, titanium crown, diamond-set bezel and automatic movement with a date display.

Where the B19 emphasizes mechanical complication, this model places more weight on proportions, finishing and visual elegance.

Customers can customize hand and rehaut colors and arrange caseback engraving. Both watches use familiar Super Chronomat design elements rather than being entirely new watch architectures.

That is an important buying distinction. The bespoke experience concerns defined customization choices, not unrestricted redesign of the movement, case or bracelet.

Personalization Is Becoming Part of the Luxury Product

What interests me most about this announcement is the relationship between the customer and the manufacturer.

Aston Martin already builds vehicles whose appeal depends heavily on individuality. With Valhalla, its collaboration with Breitling creates another opportunity for customers to make personal decisions rather than simply select a finished accessory.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, explains the intention: “Valhalla is a car defined by innovation, precision and individuality.”

The company wants that philosophy to carry into an object created in Switzerland while the Valhalla itself is manufactured in Gaydon, England.

There is a wider luxury-market lesson here. Exclusivity increasingly involves participation in the creation process, although this particular announcement provides no evidence about how much customers will pay for that privilege.

Why Precision Still Matters

Breitling’s association with chronographs gives the partnership a technical connection to performance driving. Measuring elapsed time has obvious significance in motorsport, even if most Valhalla owners will never need to measure a competitive lap with their wristwatch.

The science of clock mechanisms also highlights why a sophisticated automatic watch is appealing. It represents a mechanical solution to a problem that an inexpensive digital device can handle with greater absolute accuracy.

That makes its craftsmanship, physical construction and longevity central to its appeal.

Buyers should still establish servicing requirements, warranty coverage and what happens if personalized components need replacement. The supplied announcement does not specify those details.

Is the Bespoke Breitling Worth Considering?

For an existing Valhalla owner who enjoys mechanical watches, this is an unusually personal opportunity. The B19 delivers the more interesting technical package, while the Automatic 38 offers a smaller, jewelry-influenced alternative.

My advice would be to choose the watch on its own merits first, then use the customization options to establish a connection with the car. A matching color is a pleasant detail, but it should not outweigh comfort, the suitability of the movement or the cost of ownership.

The missing prices and commissioning information prevent any serious value judgment at this stage.

Still, the underlying idea is appealing. A car limited to 999 examples is already rare. A mechanical watch commissioned to reflect one particular example gives its owner something rather different.

And unlike the Valhalla, you can take it into a restaurant without worrying about finding a parking space.
