Toyota’s 2027 TRD Pro lineup is getting a color change that sounds better suited to breakfast than a rock garden. Honeycomb will be offered on the Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma TRD Pro, while the 4Runner receives its own slightly different shade called Hot Honey.

The distinction matters because Toyota’s annual TRD Pro color has become part of the identity of its most capable trucks and SUVs. Paint is not mechanical equipment, but it gives buyers an immediate way to recognize a particular model year.

Honeycomb succeeds 2026’s Wave Maker blue and takes the lineup in a warmer direction. Toyota describes it as bold and high-impact, and the name suggests a rich yellow-gold rather than beige or bronze. Production images will reveal how it changes in sunlight, but it should be difficult to confuse with another gray SUV.

Honeycomb Replaces Wave Maker Across Three TRD Pros

The shared Honeycomb finish will appear on the 2027 Tundra, Sequoia and Tacoma TRD Pro models. That connects three very different vehicles visually: a full-size pickup, a full-size three-row SUV and a midsize pickup.

Toyota has used special colors to make the TRD Pro lineup feel like a family even when the vehicles serve different buyers. Honeycomb continues that strategy with a warmer tone than Wave Maker. It should also work neatly with the red tow hooks Toyota is adding as standard equipment to the Tundra and Sequoia TRD Pro.

Hot Honey Gives the 4Runner Its Own Flavor

The 2027 4Runner TRD Pro will not wear exactly the same Honeycomb paint. Toyota calls its version Hot Honey and describes it as a slightly different shade.

Toyota has not explained how the colors differ, so it would be premature to call one darker, brighter or more orange. What is clear is that the 4Runner gets a distinct identity while remaining part of the same honey-themed collection. That is a small but smart decision for a model with a loyal following.

Tundra and Sequoia Get More Than New Paint

The 2027 Tundra and Sequoia TRD Pro receive newly designed, vehicle-specific FOX enhanced QS3 shocks. Toyota says the adjustable dampers are tuned to improve feel, stability and adjustability over rough terrain. The key detail is vehicle-specific tuning; the pickup and SUV are not simply receiving identical settings.

Both also gain standard red tow hooks. The Tundra can be equipped with ISO-dynamic seats designed to support comfort and stability during off-road driving, and Toyota says those seats are also available for the Tacoma.

Beyond TRD Pro, the updated Tundra and Sequoia receive sharper front-end styling, a standard 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia screen, a built-in drive recorder and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0. Both also add an SR5-based Trailhunter package with an Old Man Emu suspension, Michelin LTX Trail tires, added underbody protection and a locking rear differential.

What Toyota Has Not Announced Yet

Toyota has not released 2027 pricing for the Tundra or Sequoia, and the color announcement does not provide pricing or detailed specifications for the Tacoma and 4Runner. More information is expected later in the year.

Another unanswered question is whether Honeycomb and Hot Honey will be widely available or difficult to find. Special TRD Pro colors attract attention because they are tied to one model year, but buyers should wait for allocation details before assuming every dealer will receive one.

The color is the headline, but the broader message is consistency. Toyota is keeping its toughest models recognizable, adding meaningful suspension and technology updates where announced, and allowing the 4Runner a slightly different interpretation. Honeycomb may sound sweet, but the vehicles wearing it remain built for dirt, distance and the occasional parking lot where every other SUV has chosen grayscale.
