Since its introduction 20 years ago as BMW’s first Sports Activity Vehicle, the X5 has evolved into one of the most popular luxury SUVs in North America. Granted, all BMW vehicles have a certain cachet that those in the know appreciate, although for BMW owners who seek to stand out and get noticed even more, a typical X5 simply won’t do. For those folks BMW introduces the exclusive X5 Black Vermilion Edition — a bold SUV with striking exterior styling and a range of special features and details. The 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion Special Edition is not for the faint of heart — nor for those who prefer flying under the radar.

Painted in a unique Frozen Black Metallic exterior color, this special X5 makes a statement with its traditional BMW kidney grille trimmed in Shadowline high-gloss black with high-contrast red vertical bars. Adding to the somewhat sinister look are darkened M Shadowline adaptive full LED headlights with Laserlight.

The X5 Black Vermilion edition comes well equipped with M Sport content, which includes more aggressively styled front and rear bumpers as well as high-gloss red M Sport brake calipers. To complete the experience, the 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion Edition has an M Sport exhaust system so this stunning SUV has sound that matches the fury. Rounding out the image are the 22-inch double-spoke light alloy wheels with an exclusive Orbit Grey matte finish.

The exclusive looks of the 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermillion continue to the interior with Full Merino Black multi-contoured leather seats with red piping and contrasting stitching at all locations — both front and back. All floormats get a similar treatment with red binding for additional contrast.

Further setting this special SUV apart from run-of-the-mill X5s, the Piano Black finish on the cupholder cover features a Black Vermilion Edition logo.

Additional interior appointments for the 2022 BMW X5 Black Vermilion Edition include a glass gear selector and BMW carbon fiber trim — goodies not typically available on the X5 40i. The headliner gets swathed in Anthracite M Alcantara for an additional touch of luxurious appeal.

Production at BMW’s assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is expected to begin this fall. The base price for the 2022 BMX X5 Black Vermilion Edition has been set at $82,300.
