When we visited Hennessey Performance Engineering earlier this year to experience and drive some of the tuning company’s amazing automotive creations, founder John Hennessey mentioned that that HPE was very excited to work on the upcoming Gladiator. This brand-new pickup truck from Jeep carries all the capability of a Jeep Wrangler with the versatility of a pickup truck, making it a rather enticing product — to own as well as to customize. As the company tends to do, Hennessey Performance Engineering has taken the new Gladiator to the extreme.

“We wanted to create the ultimate Jeep Gladiator,” said Hennessey. “MAXIMUS 1000 — the name says exactly what it is: Badassery on 4-wheels,” Hennessey jokingly said. The latest creation from HPE, the MAXIMUS 1000 features the Dodge Hellcat’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that has been tuned to produce a mind-boggling 1000 horsepower and 933 lb-ft of torque. The Hennessey folks also swapped out the ECU, wiring harness, radiator and fuel system.

With styling to match the major power upgrade, Gladiator MAXIMUS 1000 gets an upgraded suspension system with a 6-inch lift, Hennessey 20-inch wheels shod with BF Goodrich KD off-road tires, unique front and rear MAXIMUS bumpers, a stainless steel exhaust system and an LED light bar. Inside, HPE ups Gladiator’s interior ante with a custom leather package that has MAXIMUS embroidered on the seats.

Adding to the exclusivity of this over-the-top Jeep, HPE plans on building only 24 examples of the Gladiator MAXIMUS 1000. “Our clients want exclusive, extreme vehicles that deliver a fun and exciting driving experience both on and off-road,” said Hennessey. “Win the crowd and you’ll win your freedom is the advice that the elder gladiator gave to Russell Crow [who played Maximus] in the Gladiator movie. We could not agree more!” Hennessey concluded.
