Car And Truck Of The Year Nominees
The North American International Auto Show in Detroit will be here January 11th and the North American Car and Truck of the year will be announced at the show. One of the biggest surprise finalist is the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Mazda have had both good and bad luck being nominated in the past. The Mazda 3 made the list of nominees but failed to win. Although the MX-5 Miata is a great car it may not have the edge it needs being only a two seater sports car.
Also to make the list is the Chevy Malibu. This is another surprise. Not because it is not worth the nominee, but because Chevy also had a new and much improved Volt this year and the all new Camaro. It was always likely that only one Chevy would make the final 3 but it was expected to be the Camaro. The final car on the list for the Car and Truck of the year nominees is the all new Honda Civic. This car is strong in every element. It’s priced well with all the features of a new family car and it is a very strong contender.
In the truck department more surprises. The Nissan Titan XD made the cut this year. The truck is completely worthy, but at the time of nominations it only came in a diesel. Without a gas alternative it seems odd that this vehicle made the cut. The new Honda Pilot also made the cut this year. A great vehicle with lots of standard safety equipment. A pleasant new design and lots of room for the family it’s a positive contender. The final vehicle to make the truck utility vehicle of the year is the Volvo XC90. This SUV rocked the world of the luxury SUV. Volvo made some much happen with this vehicle that it is a very powerful contender. It comes in many different options including a plug in hybrid version.
So who do you think will win the Car and Truck of the year? We think it is a sure bet that the Volvo XC90 will win Truck Utility vehicle of the year and the car of the year will go to the Honda Civic.
